about

Serene: This was a track on my 2013 album Speculation. It was originally a duet between myself and Hillary Tash who's on a couple of tracks on that album. I revived the song with Jerry Dugger so I could have his smooth voice contrast with my raspy one to get an O'Jays type sound. You can still hear Hillary on the choruses and the fadeout, hence the Sister Hill credit. It's kind of the polar opposite of their "I Love Music"... it's telling you that people can love your song but that love doesn't translate into people actually loving YOU. This was one of the few sleeves that we commissioned art for, thanks Charles!

Original Hype Notes:
Linton Bosco and Edwin "Snooky" Suffern are neither brothers nor egregious ...discuss!

When the two soldiers began singing together in the Officer's Club to get out of mop detail, their fellow servicemen overheard their impeccable harmonies and told them they were baaad in the good sense of the word. So they became The Baaad Brothers when they returned to civilian life. When that name was already trademarked by AAA and adopted by some really baaad outlaws, they searched a dictionary to look for some synonyms.

"We zeroed in on the archaic definition of egregious which meant 'remarkably good.' And we liked the way the word sounded. We had no idea it was also synonymous with shocking, appalling, terrible, awful, horrendous, frightful, atrocious, abominable, abhorrent and outrageous," said Linton. "But Snooky and I just figured, we're good with our fists, we'd roll with those punches as they came."

The fellas added one Private Sister Hill (her actual name) to soften the sound between the smooth as butter baritone of Linton and the sandpaper rasp of Snooky. "Sis provides the moisturizer between our two divergent styles," says Snooky. Sister's green hair was indeed egregious to the military brass who made her dye it several... more

You Can Love a Song
(written by Serene Dominic)

There's a notion I had
I could make good times from bad
By the way that I rearranged some notes
But if my words were true
You would let this song in you
And it would tell you all that you need to know

Songs won't make you love someone
But you can love a song

It's a lesson never learned
When that longing returns
I see your face
I try to place you in my life
But if my beats are tight
And the rhythms all fall right
My creation alone could make you mine

Songs won't make you love someone
But you can love a song

I know you have a love
Someone you chose instead
But I still have a chance
If this is playing in your head

Songs won't make you love someone
But you can love a song
