Serene: "I usually like to commemorate Labor Day with cover versions of songs from my 2014 album "For Your Extreme Convenience," an office-centric album. The addition on newly-deceased Jerry Lewis was a nod to his Labor Day telethons. I've always loved Broken Poets Tim McDonald's distinctive vocals and this was the fourth Butane Brothers song we collaborated on. Since he specializes in depressing songs (as he himself will readily admit) I like to save ones like this to collaborate on. We dropped the original key of E minor to D minor and I think I may prefer it this way. I was going for a Beng-era Neil Diamond kind of song and it sounds more like it here than on my version."
