about
Tommy Globbit's brainstorm of putting together a group of blind instrumentalists and singers was never a guarantee he'd get Stevie Wonder in quintuplicate but Tommy persevered, hammering away at Onus recording artist and optometry student Eric VanAusdal for the names of every blind-as-a-bat musician he knew. That only yielded a severely nearsighted conga player and a pigment challenged Moog technician.
To find a bonafide blind vocalist, Tommy cased the handicapped parking spaces at the Home Depot where he originally found the Shark Crew who made the basis for Onus' house band and drywall crew. Lightning didn't strike twice but a similar stakeout detail around the Sunnyslope School for the Blind produced one Maurice Hardaway, who immediately corrected Tommy when the CEO used the word handicapped. "It diminishes us to be called handicapped," he said. " Even "sight challenged" is kinda frowned upon now. We prefer the term 'someone who needs a lot of favors.'"
Given that, Onus' Quality Control Department did Hardaway no favors with the first dozen songs he submitted to the The Braille Building in the "do-me-a-favor' vein, including "Bring Me a Fresca," "Put My Hand Where She's Supposed to Be" and "Dial Her Number For Me." This song, which came from the pens of Serene Dominic and Ed Masley, proved that love is indeed blind and true love should never be allowed to drive by itself. Whatever that means.
In other news , Onus is considering installing "a someone who needs a lot of favors" ramp at its Sunnyslope headquarters.

The sun it rises and sets on her
Ev-ry day
Creates a halo going up and down either way
And when my mind is clouded by the world
She presides
I get my consolation from this girl
In her eyes
Big brown eyes
I've known her to be that way
I've known her to be that way
Even when I'm stammering blinking
She want to know what I'm thinking
I've known her to be that way
I've known her to be that way
I don't dawdle or I don't tarry
Cause she's an extraordinary girl
I'm not a king nor do I play one
On TV
I'd stay six seasons on a bad sitcom
To lay residuals at her feet
And in those times she's far out of reach
I try prayer
Don't have my eyes on any other prize
Cause there's no winning if she's not there
I've known her to be that way
I've known her to be that way
I'm jealous of the raindrops on her
Every breeze that blows upon her
I've known her to be that way
I've known her to be that way
Your results may vary
Get your own extraordinary girl
Now you may glimpse her walking with another guy
Making love beneath a clear November sky
But should I ask, I know she’d… look me in the eye
And she would lie… with me
Yes, she’d lie… with me
And when I feel I'm near losing her
I try prayer
I wonder could there ever be true love without fear always near
I've known her to be that way
I've known her to be that way
You might say it's complicated
She acts like we've never dated
I've known her to be that way
I've known her to be that way
So what if she's being contrary
I can't lose this extraordinary girl
