about

Morbos, born Steven Morbopolous in 1988, is Sunnyslope's resident surrealist painter and self-described "sound colonic irrigator" In his own words, "I sometimes go up my own buttox in search of sounds."

Just as his series of paintings of Louis Armstrong's face melting was misunderstood by some and labelled derivative by others ("I thought the Hello Dali collection was a no-brainer," he complains), he'd already been rejected by several indie record labels for his equally disturbed music before Onus Records gave him a shot.

Recorded while watching a YouTube video of "Forensic Files," Morbos became obsessed with the last few minutes Elvis Presley remained alive. Mostly the bit about him falling off the toilet in his orange pajamas with a view of under the sink.

"The bathroom is the most dangerous room in the house so it is fitting than the singer once viewed the most dangerous entertainer in the country should meet his end there," says Morbos who believes that the actual bathroom and especially the toilet are just as compelling a part of the story of the King's death as the medicine chest of pharmaceuticals his poor hard was forced to swim around in.

This is the sound Morbos chased when recording "Ginger Come Running," Ginger being the name of Elvis' then fiancé.

It's hardly expected that this slab or bad taste will win him happy entry Into Graceland, but the singer maintains it will happen. "Someday I will be famous enough to be allowed entry upstairs in Graceland and I can see the bathroom for myself. If Johnny Depp can see the bathroom, I should be able to as well."
